Our Name - Kosher VeYosher
Above Board, Exemplary, Absolutely Trustworthy - More Than Just a Promise

Kosher means "acceptable and proper", Yosher means "straight". Kosher VeYosher is an old Yiddish expression meaning "above board, exemplary and absolutely trustworthy". It also means getting to the point without prevarication. As Rashi [Devarim (Deuteronomy) 1:13, SifSey ChaChaMim] explains the meaning of the word, "Chachamim" which we often simply translate as "wise", to really mean one who uses wisdom to gain and share clarity.

The New Face
Kosher VeYosher is the new face of Australia's oldest functioning Kosher Certifying Agency, established by one of Melbourne’s most senior, beloved and revered rabbis, Rabbi Shlomo Rudski. It is presently directed by Rabbi Meir Gershon Rabi.

At this site we avoid bland or confusing information about Kosher food and its production. This site is to be a resource for all interested about Kosher and Judaism. It presents both the basics of Kosher and the intricacies of Kashrus. We wish to encourage more interest and participation in Judaism in general and in Kashrus in particular. It is particularly satisfying to promote wisdom and the capacity to distinguish fact from fiction. We want to see more informed Kosher consumers.

We are a people defined by our relationship with Gd. T
hroughout our history, even in times of great persecution, instability and national and personal risk, we have used information and intellectual stimulation as almost our only source of inspiration and identity to guarantee our Jewish continuity. We have cultivated our minds to be forever aware and mindful of our Jewish Heritage, a heritage that exists in our national consciousness more than anywhere else. Our Torah is the only beacon that has given us life, hope and purpose.

Therefore, Jews might march away or be evicted from places that for hundreds of years looked like home; Jews may leave beautiful edifices that testify to their adoration of G-d and their well established lives; Jews may leave
financially destitute but we have forever been rich and empowered beyond description with the images in our minds and hearts, our commitment to G-d.

"Keeping Kosher" is a most important part of that heritage.
"Keeping Kosher" is not just about what we do and do not put in our mouth.
"Keeping Kosher" is a declaration of allegiance. It is about eternal and continuous love, dedication and loyalty.
"Keeping Kosher" is Keeping Jewish and Keeping Loyal.

More Truth Less Business
Our objective is to humbly pursue the noble ambitions of Rabbi Aharon Nesher, chairman of Maskil L’David who told Ynet that he would like to see kashrut agencies “more based on truth, and less based on business”. Truth is knowledge and knowledge is truth. This is what we endeavour to disseminate. As our Sages express it: G-d's seal is truth.

A Remarkable Blend Within Our Tradition
Kosher VeYosher represents a remarkable blend that seeks refreshing perspectives from within our traditions.  Torah, G-d’s Word and instruction, is not just about submission but about investigation.  Seeing the diamond from different perspectives reveals so many beautiful colours that may otherwise go unnoticed.  Every page of our Talmud is replete with debate and analysis and every day of our life is an opportunity to see different and beautiful perspectives. The objective at this site is to inform, educate and display many of the beautiful facets of Judaism and thereby inspire and engage.

"We are still working with our rabbinical partners and the manufacturing facilities to convert our processes in order to produce kosher Gatorade thirst quencher and G2 products," the spokesperson said.

Rabbi Zev Meir Friedman, Rosh HaMesivta of Rambam Mesivta, was sanguine about the development.

"A thing is kosher because it's kosher, not because a rabbi makes it kosher," Rabbi Friedman said. "A valid hashgacha is a very convenient way and helpful way of saving the time and effort that goes in to checking the ingredients and machines a product is made with, and all other details that can affect the kashruth of an item. "
